The Story Behind Camille & Bardot: A Love for Details, Moments & Memories

Some stories begin with a grand idea, others start with a feeling—one that lingers, warms the heart, and makes you long for more. Camille & Bardot was born from exactly that: a deep love for details, meaningful traditions, and the magic of gifting.  

A CHILDHOOD OF GATHERINGS & THOUGHTFUL TOUCHES  

Growing up, family gatherings were more than just dinners—they were carefully crafted moments filled with warmth, laughter, and love. My parents, together with my brother, sister, and I, would all take part in preparing these special evenings. Setting the table was never just about placing plates and cutlery—it was about creating an experience. The right candles, soft linen table linen, and small thoughtful details made our guests, often close friends and family, feel truly cherished.  

And then there were the little things that made a house feel like home. Like so many of you (I guess), I had a set of towels embroidered with my name—a gift from birth that lasted until it was practically falling apart. These small details, these personal touches, stayed with me.  

FROM FAMILY TRADITIONS TO LIFELONG PASSION

Some of my fondest memories are from family trips, where creativity and togetherness were always at the center. One evening, in the kitchen of a little château we were staying in, we transformed the space into our very own "friterie". All the cousins, dressed in matching pajamas, ran our handmade French fry stand, complete with paper cones and a DIY sign. A simple moment, yet unforgettable—because it wasn’t just about the fries, but about the joy of creating something special together.  

As I grew older, I realized that creativity was my true passion. Whether it was sculpting, making beadwork figures, or learning to knit from my grandmother, I found joy in crafting something meaningful.  

A LOVE FOR PERSONALIZED GIFTING  

When I went to boarding school, I built a second family—friends who became like sisters. That’s where another tradition was born: our annual Christmas gatherings. And for me, gift-giving was always at the heart of it.  

Each year, I set out on a mission to create personalized gifts that would bring joy to my friends. One year, it was personalized pajama or boxer shorts, toiletry bags with beaded names, or even ski sweaters,... 

For privacy reasons (and to avoid being disowned by my friends), I’ve kindly blurred their faces. Let’s just say not all of these photos are... flattering!

Fun little challenge: can you spot the mistake in the ski sweater photo? My younger self, in all her enthusiasm, made custom ski sweaters with numbers from 1 to 12… except I somehow printed two sixes instead of a nine. So yes, we had two number sixes on the team. Let’s just say attention to detail wasn’t my strongest skill back then!

The excitement of crafting something unique for each person became something I looked forward to every year. Because in the end, the most special gifts aren’t about their price or size—they’re about the thought, the personal touch, and the memories they hold.  

THE BIRTH OF CAMILLE & BARDOT  

That’s exactly why Camille & Bardot was born. At first, it was simply a creative escape, something I did alongside my full-time job as a neuropsychologist. But soon, I realized it was much more than that. It was about helping others create those same special moments—whether through a beautifully embroidered gift, a cozy dinner setting, or a small detail that turns an ordinary moment into something unforgettable.  

Now, every product is designed with that philosophy in mind. From embroidered aprons and soft linen napkins to personalized bags and cozy cushions, each piece is meant to be part of your story, your traditions, and your cherished moments.
